Come and Have Go On Instruments Workshop (2 hours)

Jon Dyer and Paul Wilson, community musicians at Wren Music, will be holding a workshop on Saturday morning. The workshop is open to anyone, including those who are new to folk or to playing music, or for more experienced players who want to have the opportunity to learn to play together as part of a band.
Wren Music will provide a wide selection of folk instruments, or you can bring your own. People will be guided on how to play together and then make a band together.

Singing workshop with Nancy Kerr and James Fagan (1.15 hours)

We are delighted that Nancy and James are offering a singing workshop, suitable for all voices. Nancy will teach music collected in North Devon, as she's one of the co-investigators on a major national research project called Music Heritage Place, unlocking manuscripts held in county records across England.

FREE workshop for 11 - 18 year olds with Devon Youth Folk Ensemble.

Teignmouth Folk Festival are delighted to be working with Wren Music and community folk musician Jon Dyer to offer young people a FREE workshop with the Devon Youth Folk Ensemble.
Wren Music will supply instruments, however, you can also bring along your own instrument if you wish. The workshop will focus on learning a folk tune with the group and then young people in the group will make their own arrangement with support from the workshop facilitators.
Young people do not need to be accompanied by an adult.

Grimspound Border Morris (mini workshop)
Free but donations are welcomed
Grimspound Border Morris are performing in the Triangle at 12.00 on Sunday 22nd June 2024. At the end of their set they will run a mini workshop to learn a Border Morris dance. Participants can then perform with Grimspound (if they wish) as part of the final dance of the day, which will be at about 3.45pm.

TUNES SESSION

After a successful session last year, we are pleased to welcome back the Grimsband to Teignmouth Folk Festival. Grimsband will be facilitating our late afternoon session on Saturday 21st June 2025.
Grimsband – Grimspound are a popular local border Morris side. Their 20 strong band feature a variety of instruments including fiddle, recorder, flute, guitar and melodeon. Their musicians have both talent and experience which they will bring to this mixed traditional session.
MIXED SESSION

Local folk singer, John White, will be facilitating a session on Sunday afternoon at the Brass, Teignmouth.
We are extremely grateful to The Brass Public House for hosting these sessions every year, and for also supporting the Teignmouth Folk Club which is held on the first Monday of every month at The Brass.
